i can say that i am proud of my contribution is the director of the cia and secretary of defense. i will carry the memory of having worked on the bin laden operation at the cia with me for a long time to come. it was a very special operation. i think it did a great deal to try to keep this country safe. the other effort to undermine the leadership of al qaeda are both military and operations working together, and probably the finest example that i have seen in my time of military intelligence operations coming together to go after the enemy who attacked this country. i think we have done a great deal. not only to weaken al qaeda, but to weaken and undermine their ability to attack this country in the future. i am proud of the defense strategy that has been put in place. the defense budget has been reduced by almost a half trillion dollars. but i think it really makes good sense for the country in terms of the 21st century. and i hope that ultimately we can make the budget strategy a reality for the future. i am also proud of the opportunities for everyone to serve in the military.
